I got my deviantart account on the very night that I turned 13. I was a goody two shoes kid that never lied about her age on the web, so it was then and only then that I considered registering myself for an account.
I'd had my eyes on the website for a long time, starting ironically at overnight camp without any access whatsoever to the internet. I went to a visual arts unit in the camp I was in, and learned that 3 of my close friends had accounts on the website. So, to keep in touch in word and art I desperately wanted to join. But, they were only the catalyst of my connection to this website.
Once I came back home and started looking around, I was introduced to all of this amazing art that both intimidated and inspired me. One of the first artists I remember interacting with, and loving the art of was jawbone-ashtray.deviantart.com.
Back in the days when I just got into the Doctor Who fandom I was posting a lot of artstuffs onto the site, and this artist commented or favorited something on my piece back in 2011 when I joined. Man that made my day. And my connections kept growing.
With every fandom I joined, which have been a lot since I've come, DeviantART has fed my fangirl impulses. From Naruto(I had the biggest crush on Kakashi) references to draw from
to the horrible love I have of mistreated and less mainstream Marvel gals, Cassie Lang, and the WAY more uncommon Abby Boylen- who you should totally check out.
The first 2 are Abby Boylen/Cloud 9
CASSIE LANG MY BABY
I learned so much about the art community, and the directions in which I wanted to and could possibly take my art into. I still have a lot to learn, but the site is just a major inspiration for me. Amazing references
I love deviant art. kk bye.
